Can I use a lotion pump for soap? Let's discuss this!

Industry News-

Can I use a lotion pump dispenser for soap?
It depends! Some work, others will fail.

1. Situations where it works:

Thick hand soap (commonly found in pump bottles at supermarkets)
The texture is similar to lotion, and the pump's straw can draw the liquid smoothly.
Instructions: Pour it directly in; the soap will dispense without splashing.

2. Situations where caution is needed:

Diluted soap/dish soap
If it's too thin, it will leak from the pump head's gaps.
Insufficient suction will result in needing multiple presses to dispense a small amount.
Emergency fix: Add half a spoonful of salt to thicken it (shake to dissolve before use).

3. Situations where you absolutely shouldn't use it:

•Foaming hand soap
Lotion pumps don't have a foaming net, so it will dispense as a watery liquid.
It won't lather when washing hands, resulting in a poor experience.
•Exfoliating soap containing granules
Fine sand particles will clog the pump head's tubing.
Forcing it will cause permanent blockage.

4. Precautions for homemade soap:

Soap Type Works in Lotion Pump? Key Steps
Olive oil handmade soap  Test first Let sit in bottle 24 hours; check for leaks
Essential oil diluted soap  Not recommended Oils swell/damage pump seals
Milk-based soap  Yes Rinse pump with water after each use
